Truth Mandala in Newlands
In these times of ecological collapse, war, and growing uncertainty, many of us carry deep but unspoken sorrow — for the suffering of our human brothers and sisters, for species disappearing, ecosystems unravelling, and the wild places we love that are being destroyed or lost.
The Truth Mandala, a ritual from The Work That Reconnects created by Joanna Macy, offers a sacred and ceremonial space to honour the grief and pain we feel for the world. Through this beautifully crafted and tenderly held ritual we invite you to feel fully, remembering that our grief for the world is not something to suppress, hide or shame, but an expression of our deep love.
Together, we will gather in circle — to speak the truth of our hearts, to be held and witnessed in community, to honour our love for Earth and all beings, and to reclaim sorrow, rage, and emptiness as sacred.
This ritual helps us remember what connects us — to ourselves, to each other, and to all of life.

The Active Hope Circles in 2025
Building Connection & Resilience in South Africa
In these encounters we shall have the opportunity to experience some reconnecting practices around the Spiral of the Work that Reconnects but also to engage in facilitated conversation around themes that speaks to our community.
These monthly spirals will also allow for the emergence of more practice of the Work that Reconnects in South Africa, spreading important tools for these times of growing complexity. We wish to facilitate inclusive conversations inspired by our diversity.
These gatherings offer a supportive space to explore our feelings about the state of the world, deepen our sense of interconnection, and find renewed inspiration for action.
Each session will guide us through the spiral of The Work that Reconnects—Gratitude, Honoring Our Pain, Seeing with New Eyes, and Going Forth—helping us cultivate resilience and collective strength in the face of ecological and social challenges.
Whether you are new to this work or already engaged in transformative action, you are welcome. Let’s come together to share, listen, and co-create a thriving, regenerative future.
